Tioman Island Dive Trip (Part 2)

Here we are for part 2, the last part. I don't want to milk this for long.

The next day, my friends and I woke up around 7am. We brushed our faces and headed for breakfast. The dive center offered us breakfast coupons that we had to present to the restaurant to redeem our breakfast. The breakfast menu was really filling, I remembered having 2 roti canai and a mug of hot milk tea.

After breakfast, we headed to our room to suit up. On the way to the dive center, we stopped at a small shop to buy some pastries to have on the boat during our surface interval. When we arrived, we found all our gears prepared by the dive center ready to dive. We had our briefing from our friendly divemaster and went abroad on the speed boat. There will be 2 dives for the day and we were excited about it.

The first dive was fun, we saw many colorful fishes. This time I even spotted a turtle gliding through with remora fishes under it. once resurfaced, we had an hour to spare. We ate the snacks prepared by the dive center as well as the pastries that we bought. Then, we talked to our boatman asking about the waterfall that we saw on the map. The boatman explained to us the route to the waterfall in detail. We also advised us to come back before 6pm as the hike down will take an hour and it will be too dark to navigate. Ending our chat, we geared up again and backrolled into the ocean. This will be our last dive of the trip.

The last dive was really memorable, we went through tight spots, in between corals. We spotted many nudibranchs and pretty fishes inside the sea anemone. The corals in Pulau Tioman are so big and colorful. Ascending to the surface, we looked at each other and said to ourselves, "We should have booked more dives". We kinda regretted not booking 6 dives. Nevertheless, we were so happy with all the dives.

Once we got on shore, it was lunchtime. We were so hungry, tired, and sticky. We took a nice cold shower and headed off for lunch. Lunch on Tioman Island was rather affordable, there were not cut-throat prices at Kampung Juara. Back from lunch, we took a small nap before heading for the waterfalls. At 4pm, we packed our bags and started our hike. The hike was easy, there were not any steep hills or dangerous drops. It was quite a long hike though, it was around a solid 5km hike. It took us around an hour to reach the waterfalls.

Reaching the waterfalls, we were stunned by the beauty of nature. The sound of the water pouring heavily on the rocks and the sound of the steady stream of water was wonderful. Not wasting time, we plunged into the water. The water was crystal clear. It's hard to find a clean river in Kuala Lumpur but, here the waterfall is just exquisite.

Chilling by the waterfall
Soon, it was getting dark. I checked the time and it was 530pm. We carefully walked out of the water and packed our bags. We had a wonderful time. Hiking up to the water was totally worth it. We enjoyed every single moment of it.

Reaching the hotel, we washed ourselves up and got ready for dinner. Unfortunately, it was suddenly raining so heavily. We can't go out for dinner. We had to stay in our room until 9pm. At the time, we are literally starving. We rushed to dinner and strolled around Kampung Juara. We passed our dive center and stayed there for a chat until midnight. Then, we headed to bed.

On the last day on the Island, checkout was at 12, and a 4X4 will bring us back to the jetty. We cleared up the room and packed our bags. The 4X4 Toyota Hilux picked us up to the jetty. Our ferry ride back was at 2pm and we reached on time.

On the ferry, we slept like a baby. 3 hours just went by without us noticing. It was 530pm when we landed at Tanjong Gemok, Pahang. We took our late lunch and headed back to Kuala Lumpur. My friend dropped me off at Terminal Bersepadu Selatan (TBS) and I took a bus back to Ipoh.

That's all for today. I hope I will visit Tioman Island again for another dive very soon.
